F put in a doorbell camera where I am working to replace a decades old doorbell so I don’t have to actually go to the door to check to see if a package has been delivered and there is an actual functional doorbell.
I am shocked at what I now see. Everything from the not so itsy bitsy spider dancing in the doorbell cam at midnight waking me up to raccoons strolling by presumably stealing the flowers. Then there is my neighbors cat that likes to sun itself and the 🐿️ stealing whatever they can get their little paws on.
Since the area has bobcat, coywolves, panthers and other larger creatures, I probably will limit my midnight walks with the trash can ("the trash walk of shame" as we call it) if I see anything bigger. The racoon was HUGE. He’s been snacking on my plants for awhile I bet.
I have yet to get an actual package though haha 🤣
But there are plenty of midnight and 5 am visitors.
I also have a camera in one of the work areas just to monitor the temperature, water etc when I am not there (agriculture-related). And I see the weirdest streaks and orbs of light sometimes. I am presuming it’s weather related.
It was installed to let us know if there is a leak or wind damage etc., but it’s pretty entertaining when ai speculates what it is seeing.
Anybody else have any (clean only please) doorbell cam stories?

We have security cams all around inside and out. The inside ones allow us to catch the pets with shenanigans and can even talk to them.
The outside ones catch all manner of wildlife. Early spring late winter found all these strange holes in our yard it was an armadillo getting bugs. Had deer on the porch caught them eating all my special lillies last year. They were all about to bloom, and next morning came out and they were gone. Sure enough momma showed her twins the delicious treats. When we had chickens caught many raccoons and opposums in there. We had a momma get hit in the road a few years ago and she was gigantic. after telling my H I had trouble scooping her up. He guessed she was ~30 lb.
The cameras add some fun to life and keep people that are unwanted away.

I have security cameras, and one time a few years ago, happened to look because there was a ton of honking going on, so I checked the camera. A guy was jogging down my road and stripping as he went. I have no idea who he was or what ended up happening or if somebody called in for help because I watched it quite a bit later that day, but I know that was definitely not something I expected to see.

The last couple of days it’s been deer and rabbits 🐇— plant eating bandits all of them. They seem to like hostas? I remember Tush a similar experience with lilys and deer 🦌 ate the tiny tender little buds and spit out the roots.
One day I had pretty $$ hosta near the door. The next nothing… 😮
No naked people thankfully. But the weird dancing orbs of light came back 👻
None of this exciting stuff ever happens when I am actually there working so no idea what the dancing orbs actually are :)

I one year had tomatoes and peppers in a bed for flowers but is a full sun spot so I stuck them in there. I had peppers about ready to be picked the next day there was just a green twig sticking put of the ground. Put the whole plant in mouth and just slid up the length of it and chomped the whole thing on 3 plants.

While not necessarily a doorbell camera story, when we lived in CA, we had several security cameras around our front and back yard.
The night our pooch got sprayed by a skunk around 4AM in our backyard, we were able to pull up the video and see our dog running from behind the garage to our patio door, with the skunk chasing him down the walkway. While we were all traumatized that night, it was kind of funny seeing our dog running toward the house so fast, and the skunk waddling after him!

Threadjack ... I recently learned that hosta shoots are edible for people, apparently. If facebook can be believed.
