VAr help needed

so I put a Var in my husbands car. It picks up things very clearly but doesn't record the whole day. It divides recordings into folders, and it hasn't reached the limit yet. The batteries are fine. I'm wondering if I'm not using it the right way. It's a Phillips Voice Tracer. I have it set for voice recognition recording. I only get part of the day. I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong? Anyone here have experience with Vars? Thank you
