Congratulations! Being a grandma is the best! My mom was Big Grandma because she was so talk (Just under 6 feet). My MIL was ma'am, which started with my niece. We think because they went shopping every day and the cashier would say, "Thank you, ma'am."

One SIM went with gigi, the other with meemaw.

See a onsie that said Chicken nuggs and grandma hugs, which was so cute. It could be customized so many ways.

Enjoy your grandbaby.

Aww, congratulations!!
So far all I have is grand nieces/nephews and my current name is Grantie HF. (Side note, all of my sister’s kids called me Naint HF when they were growing up because that’s what the first one called me lol)

I’ve never heard anyone else use the name we called my dad’s mother, which was Mamoo. Pronounced as if you were going to say "Mama" and changed the 2nd syllable. We called my maternal gm Grand Gran and my mom picked that one up. My sister is planning for GG to honor our mom and grandmother.

Whatever you’re called will be wonderful and a special bond with this little one.

Me, 56
Him, 48 (JMSSC)
Married 26 years. Reconciled.

Congratulations! Being a grandma is awesome and freaking expensive. rolleyes

I agree with Tush, he/she will figure it out.

My granddaughter calls me grandma and the grandfather pop pop. That's what she decided.

My cousins and I called our Italian grandparents Nini (kneeknee) and Papa, which was pretty much what their first grandson started calling them.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! It’s the best thing ever!!!!!

Recently I became a "great, great aunt". My niece who is the grandmother in this situation refuses to be called any of the usual grandmother names, so she has dubbed herself as "Queenie".

But tush is totally right… It will be what the baby decides to call you and you will absolutely LOVE it no matter what it is!

There is a very cute video about picking out your grandma name in the south complete with jewelry!

Let the names begin. How fun!
