Thank y'all for thinking of me, us. JM was actually in Ft. Lauderdale at the treatment center while ds 33 (today is his birthday) and I rode out the hurricane together. With our, um, 2 adult dogs and the 2 brand new puppies I couldn't resist. They were from an accidental encounter between a pug mama and a handsome and resourceful chihuahua. So we essentially rescued them and omg they are so cute. I got the runt who is brindle and looks like he got less pug DNA. He weighed 2.2 lbs at 10 weeks. His brother is black and looks more like our Delilah. They are name Silas and Simon. Silas is my tiny baby.
Believe it or not, they have really helped me keep calm during the literal storm and the figurative shit storm that we are enduring. I'll update the other thread about all that.
End T/J.
The storm was really bad and a lot of my friends and family took a lot of damage. The power was out over a huge portion of the state for several days at least. My sister got hers back on just a day or 2 ago. The very worst of it for me and many of our friends was an 18 year old volunteer firefighter, who never wanted to be anything but a firefighter, died on 9/27 along with the town fire chief when a tree fell on the cab of the truck they were driving.
Y'all, I remember when she got pregnant with him. She was young, maybe 15. We all just wrapped around her, her mama and daddy and especially Cale. Our whole church raised that baby, that young man. So that's really sucked.
As far as I know, all my NC family are okay, all my Charleston people were fine. I have a HS friend who lives near Tampa and was wiped out a couple of years ago. I haven't heard from her yet.
Do y'all have ANY idea how much I would love to come here one day and be like, "Guess what? I won the lottery!" Or "I got a 20k raise!" Ooooh, or maybe "JM's disability was approved!" Instead of this shit wave we just keep riding.
