I'm so done with the fluffy white stuff from Hell!
We havent had snowfall amounts like this in years. I was trekking through waist deep snow today just to feed the horses.
Anyone else counting the days until Spring?

Yes - by this point of the season, it all feels like never-ending shoveling!

I feel you Dragon.
That’s a crazy amount of snow!
Spring can’t come too soon to suit me.

The good news is that we turn the clocks forward in 2 1/2 weeks, so at least it will be lighter that much later in the day!!
Everything around here is ice, and it's dangerous. We had snow last weekend, then it rained on top of the snow. Everything was like snow-cone consistency, then it froze. Our poor dog goes out in the backyard to potty, and he is slipping and sliding on ice... all four legs going in different directions.

All this snow we have was the light fluffy kind but a day or so after became hard as a rock!
The kids and I work in a line, one breaking up the snow with the metal hard shovel while another comes and tries to shovel the broken up stuff over the massive walls on each side of the driveway.
Gas blower has a carburetor issue and I just don't know if it's worth taking apart the carb or buying a new one. 🤔 it's like $20 on Amazon.
The shelter for the tractor just ends up making the snow swirl around with the wind and it's piled up so high on the one side I can just get the car into the garage. Turning around is a bitch! 25 point bloody turn or just back down 400 feet and pray no one is coming when I pull out.
I'll have to fork out $300 if I want the place cleared more by a local company with a massive tractor and blower. Ouch!
I guess snow is better than ice but 3 feet of snow in a single dumping is to much.
I can tell ya that when this crap melts we'll be dealing with some major flooding. Glad the house is up on a hill.

Oh and the first time the bulldog had to go out after the big snowfall there was a massive drift between the stairs and where the dogs go potty. Big dog jumped it. Bulldog plowed right through it lol.
Three stairs going up to the deck were buried. I go out there now and dig out an area so the dogs can do their business more easily.
My shoulder and wrist hate me.

When Texas hits 110 degrees in August, I remind myself that at least I've never had to deal with shoveling snow.
Gasping for air while volunteering to give others CPR is not heroic.

I think the Canadian Mantra as we shovel is:
"We don't have earthquakes, we dont have hurricanes, we don't have alligators".
(I'd totally be ok with alligators of we didn't have snow lol)

I won’t mention that my daffodils and camellias are blooming and the neighbor’s magnolia tree is about to bloom ;-)
(And you can throw that back at me during our next drought and fire….)
I was talking to a colleague in Toronto and he said that got close to 5’ of snow.. That is a crazy amount. You will have nasty snow mounds in May with that much show. Take care when shoveling.☃️
(And buy the amazon part - some things aren’t worth the time).

Minnesota here....
We have had very little snow this winter(so far) There is still March to get through.
But, it has been so bitterly cold. Even for us supposedly hearty Minnesotans, this has been a brutal winter.
And, we are tired of it!!
Stay safe DragnHeart.

I can't wait to see flowers and green again.

Thank you! I needed someone to tell me it was OK to buy a new part instead of trying to mess with the old one. Now to figure out which one. I have a Yard King blower and haven't seen a carb specifically for that brand.
But, it has been so bitterly cold
.
It's going down to -22 with the wind chill tonight. It has been an especially cold winter. If the wind would just go away it wouldn't be so bad. I swear the day the plow truck got stuck and we spent hours getting him out, both ds and I were really close to having frostbite. And that's with winter gloves.

Shout out to betsy 62 -- fellow Minnesotan.
It is the end of February which means tree tapping season. i am going to give it a go here in the big city with two sugar maples. i am used to being out in the middle of nowhere but tapping silver maples instead. Nothing like classing up the neighborhood with tree tapping equipment.
Hooray for spring. The corner is just about here DragnHeart.

I discovered that my uncle has an entire stash of stuff just for tapping and I always wanted to do it but I can't even make it to the back where the trees are. We have one maple tree beside the house but I'm unsure what type it is.
Would be cool to make our own maple syrup.
