Hello friends,
As a BS I have been talking to a therapist who also has a PHD in psychology, however I feel like he has no idea about how to deal with affair trauma, recovery etc. When I search for Infidelity specialists, most LMTs claim to be specialists on the subject but I highly doubt it.
Have you worked with anyone good in California? I guess It could be out of state as well since nowadays everything is done online.

I have had three therapists. One that was perfect for helping me off the ledge in the earliest days, one that helped me through the next year, and then one who has helped me move forward in my life. I’m in NorCal, and just used web resources to find available ones and then did the 10 minute free interviews they offered. I had to "click" with them as much as their experience in infidelity. Just keep trying— and actually ask your existing therapist. They should be able to help you find one that better meets your needs.

Both know each other, FYI. Melanie is who I give credit to for helping me to work through a lot of issues related to my trauma and how that was a catalyst for later problems, the affair being one part of that. I cannot recommend her enough. Maritza is a wonderful MC who practices EFT therapy (see Hold me Tight - Dr. Sue Johnson). She called both of us out when she needed to, and was focused on emotional-based therapy. Again, can't recommend her enough.
