In July I'll be on my own again, single mom life with my toddler. I can afford my living expenses, but there won't be much left after that to build an emergency savings or plan for a small vacation once a year.
Anyone find any virtual side business work that brought in some extra $$? Like UpWork, virtual assistant type stuff and have some success?

So I do have one side source of income already (just don't want to give too much detail for privacy). I was thinking of virtual assistant type work...I really enjoy helping people and can easily take on some computer work at night/weekends. I'll keep checking UpWork for more opportunities!

I did DoorDash for awhile. It was nice because I could work around my regular job and could pick up enough hours to make ends meet. I already work on the computer 8-10 hours/day, so I wanted something that would give me some movement. I didn't try anything virtual. I held out about 30% for taxes. If I was going to do it year-over-year, I would have had to set up quarterly payments for self-employment taxes.

Personally I had a beekeeping business for a few years, and made good money doing it.
It had several different arms to it.
Beekeeping in the traditional sense, and selling honey and lotions/creams made from beeswax.
Removal of nuisance bees/wasps, like ground hornets. The charge to do this was about $100, and really only took one hour at dusk to remove. Having the gear made it super easy.
Removal of honeybees from places they shouldn't be like walls of homes, trees that were rotten and needed cut down.
Keeping hives on others properties to get the benefit of pollination, and honey from their own property.
My H and did this together, but I could have done most of it on my own. As I know how to use power tools, and do minor construction jobs.
Anyway I got into as interest I had always had, attended FarmAid one year and there was a guy there from a local beekeeping association, and I was off to the races, the following spring we started with 2 hives. At one point we had nearly 40. Now I think we are back down to about 6.
My point is find something that interests you, and do it. Then it's not even like work.
